Objective: To promote health, wellness, fitness and competition for adults through swimming.

Goal: Promote alternative stroke swims for distance events. Encourage swimmers to have fun and participate in a unique event that challenges them to do something they thought they couldn’t. Some people will swim the “Butterfly is not a Crime” event for competition, while others participate in it for fitness; all who wish to participate are welcome.

The youngest relay member’s age shall determine the relay’s age group. Age groups are 18+, 25+, 35+,…95+. Age will be determined by your age on the date of the relay.    The first person is eligible for a individual record.

Relays may be virtual.  If you like, find your old or young lost friend who lives someplace else in the world at large. The first swimmer must have their timer in contact with the second to tell them when they touch, the second must then connect with the third timer to tell them when their swimmer touches. Each timer must take a split time for their swimmer.  First person starts at a fixed time, so the last timer knows when to start there watch.   Keep splits.

In memory of George Fitch, here in the middle celebrating his world record in the mixed medley relay.

Rules: No drafting, flotation, and propulsive devices (pull buoys, fins, paddles, snorkels, wet suits, etc.) are not permitted. No more than two swimmers may share a lane. If a lane is shared, each swimmer must stay on his or her side of the lane during the entire race (i.e. no circle swimming). An adult acting as a starter/head timer/referee shall be present at all times during the swim. Each swimmer must have a verifier to count laps and record cumulative splits every 50 yards or 50 meters. The timing of the event may be done with a stopwatch or electronic timing device. One person may serve as a counter for no more than two swimmers per heat. Have your head examined if you do this at altitude. But if you do this event at altitude you are even more awesome.  One hand touch will be permitted on butterfly turn. Two nonconforming strokes may be made during open-water swim turns.

Unsporting Conduct: Any act of fraud, deception or dishonesty in connection with this event or knowingly providing false information including name, date of birth, age or gender on this event entry form may result in disciplinary action and public humiliation.
